Nomade Tulum
Nomade Tulum is the ultimate epitome of everything Tulum. Tousled good looks, sun-kissed cabanas and shack-chic bars, throw in the chilled-out vibe and this hangout is all about good-looking, breezy, laid-back living.
Perched gracefully on the white powder sands with unbeatable views of the Caribbean Sea, Nomade is the place to while away your days in a luxurious palm-shaded tent and sip margaritas in Tulum’s coolest beach bar to the sound of the Mayan beat while having your soul awakened by mother nature. Tucked away on the less-developed, southern end of Mexico’s Riviera Maya, Nomade Tulum offers rustic beach living, while experiencing the ultimate Tulum-spirit, barefoot luxury and pure life with nature as your playground.
On arrival you are led through a jungle path, just far enough away from the road to leave your previous life behind you. You arrive first at the Gratitude Tent where daily talks and soul enriching activities take place. This is the place to come at around 6pm to learn more about topics that will totally free your mind.
Walking further in past ‘Wonderland’, Nomade brings simple luxury back to nature with it’s nomadic-chic look. It oozes Mexican and Moroccan influences, hammocks dotted all over, dreamcatchers in every room, Berber rugs & cushions.
Accommodation options range from glamping-style tents to beachfront suites decorated in a casual-thrown-together look that’s ready for Instagram, each with their own terrace and just steps away from the dream-worthy beach.
Our Oceanfront Suite was right on the beach with a shaded patio and hammock to make the most of the views. Driftwood framed mirrors, hand-woven lamps, exotic rugs and a dreamy kingsize bed. It was difficult to drag myself those couple of steps to the beach each morning, but the sunrises made it more than worthwhile.
Mornings begin with yoga, of which different variations are carried out depending on the day, in a shala overlooking the beach, setting your mind on the right path to the sound of the crashing waves.
It’s then off to Macondo for a Moroccon-feel breakfast with tonnes of vegan options before heading back to the soft sands of the beach. Double sized day-beds and gently swaying hammocks, perfect for gazing out to sea, waiting for Margarita O’Clock to come back around. The Beach Bar is full of weather-beaten wood, creative cocktails and front-row views out to the Caribbean.
Macondo restaurant is Moroccan-style inspired with thick rugs, cushions seats and low, silver, tray-topped tables in a very laid-back vibe. There is a focus on nurturing seasonal vegetarian & vegan food and the vegan brownie is not to be missed for dessert. Live music played every night of my stay, adding to the atmosphere of this very special location.
Leaving Nomade, I had definitely awoken my bohemian soul. They describe themselves as a habitat for those ready to learn, and I can definitely say that I learnt a thing or two, ready to wander back down the jungle path with my heart filled by mother nature and my free mind in toe.
